Bio

Alaina Garcia begins her second year as an assistant coach with the College of the Canyons women’s basketball program in 2023-24.

Garcia heads the Cougars’ strength & conditioning program in addition to providing on-court support to head coach John Wissmath. Her goals as an assistant coach are to inspire student-athletes to be the best versions of themselves on and off the court, while providing a great atmosphere and building a winning culture. 

In addition to her responsibilities at COC, Garcia is a student assistant with the California State University, Northridge men’s basketball program and an assistant coach with the Canyon High School varsity girls basketball program. She also coaches AAU girls basketball.

Prior to joining the coaching ranks Garcia was a two-time All-Western State Conference (WSC) honoree at Ventura College, where she starred as a shooting guard.

Garcia also attended Canyon High School (2013-2017) where she was both an All-League and All-State selection for the Cowboys, in addition to winning the program’s Ardyce Masters Inspirational Award.

When not coaching, Garcia enjoys a range of activities including wakeboarding, surfing, snowboarding, off-roading, playing sports, working out, hiking, attending concerts and spending time with family.

Garcia currently resides in Santa Clarita.
