GLENDORA, Calif. — The College of the Canyons women's soccer team scored three second-half goals in a 3-1 comeback victory over conference rival Citrus College on Tuesday.
COC sophomore forward Marissa Kneisel scored two goals to ensure the victory for the Cougars. Kneisel's goals were her fifth and sixth of the season.
The Cougars trailed at 1-0 heading into halftime after the Owls netted a goal just before the end of the period.
In the second half, COC freshman Kailey Marquez scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Kneisel to tie the game at 1-1 in the 67th minute.
Later, in the 78th minute, Kneisel scored the go-ahead goal on an assist by Kristin Barbour giving the Cougars a 2-1 lead.
Just before the final whistle, Kneisel scored COC's third goal to wrap up the scoring for the game.
With the win, head coach Justin Lundin's club brings its record to 3-1-2 and 2-0 against Western State Conference (WSC), South opponents.
COC will next host Antelope Valley College at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, on the college's upper field.
