Cougars Drop Home Opener To Irvine Valley
College of the Canyons volleyball team had chances to overcome visiting Irvine Valley College on Wednesday night, but dropped three consecutive sets to lose the first match of the year, 3-0.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - College of the Canyons volleyball team had chances to overcome visiting Irvine Valley College on Wednesday night, but dropped three consecutive sets to lose the first match of the year, 3-0. After dropping the first set, 25-21, COC opened up a 11-3 lead in the second set, but lost the lead as the Lasers picked up seven consecutive points. COC wouldn't lead again, and dropped the second set, 25-17. In the third, Irvine Valley held off a early surge by the Cougars, 12-10, but Irvine Valley finished off the Cougars 25-21 to sweep COC. Jillian Anderson led the team with seven kills and Ashlie Arnold paced the offense with 14 assists. Arnold also led the team with seven digs and Lindsey Wilcox had a team-high three block assists. COC hits the road on Sept. 11 for the El Camino Classic.
