No. 10 Canyons Earns Big Wins at Mira Costa Quad Tourney
COC's 3-1 victory over Mira Costa snapped the Spartans' 11-match win streak.

The COC women's volleyball team continues to climb the statewide rankings, with the Lady Cougars ranked No. 10 in the most recent statewide Top-25 poll. Canyons (9-2) is also the No. 7 ranked team in Southern California.
At last weekend's Mira Costa Quad Tournament COC posted a 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19) victory over No. 6 Mira Costa, which snapped the Spartans' 11-match win streak.
Canyons then came back with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-14) win vs. L.A. Harbor College in the tournament's afternoon game, to run COC's win streak to four games.
In the match vs. Mira Costa, COC posted a .374 team kill percentage while combining for nine aces.
COC freshman Sam Nua finished with 15 kills, two aces and a blocked shot while hitting .538 in the match.
Freshman Emily Burns had 13 kills and four digs, while Daniella Villano recorded 10 kills and a team-leading .600 kill percentage. Villano also added two aces to her stat line.
Demi Dawson finished with a team-leading 13 digs, while Rachel Perez had 46 assists across the four sets.
The game vs. L.A. Harbor featured another strong performance by the Lady Cougars, with interim head coach Clay Timmons able to see his entire roster in action against a Seahawk squad that COC had previously defeated back on Sept. 9.
Perez was at it again with 20 more assists, while Dawson added three aces and Morgan Ferguson chipped in with two blocks and two kills.
The Lady Cougars will next travel to face Ventura College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.
