No. 12 Canyons Executes 3-0 Sweep Over Antelope Valley
No. 12 Canyons (15-2, 2-0) is currently tied with No. 22 Bakersfield College for first place in the Western State Conference, South Division.
The College of the Canyons women's volleyball team has now won four straight — and nine of its last 10 — matches after executing a 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-17) conference win over Antelope Valley College on Friday night.
No. 12 Canyons (15-2, 2-0) is currently tied with No. 22 Bakersfield College for first place in the Western State Conference, South Division. Both teams will enter their next contest with undefeated conference records.
On Friday, the Lady Cougars made short work of the Marauders by limiting AVC to a negative kill percentage, while tallying 13 aces in the match.
As a team, Canyons hit .400 compared to a mark of -0.67 for AVC. The Marauders also committed 19 errors in the match.
COC freshman Rachel Perez finished the evening with six aces and 26 assists to help set the tone.
Freshman Emily Burns led the team with nine kills and an ace, while freshman Sam Nua hit .600 on her way to a stat line that included seven kills, an ace and a block.
Daniella Villano had seven kills and three digs, while Ashley Sargent finished with five kills. Liz Baker led COC with nine digs and an ace.
Canyons has now won 32 straight conference matches dating back to the 2013 season.
The Lady Cougars will next travel to face L.A. Mission College at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in a conference match.
