Women's Volleyball Earns Four All-WSC Selections

College of the Canyons had four players named with All-Western State Conference (WSC), South Division honors following a season in which the Lady Cougars finished third in the conference standings.
COC freshman Leah Gillie led the squad earning All-WSC, South Division First Team accolades. Across her 23 matches, Gillie posted a total of 100 kills and was responsible for 34 aces. She claimed the team high with 187 points on the season. Defensively, the middle blocker had 31 digs, 24 solo blocks and 58 block assists.
Freshman libero Presley Golphenee was named to the All-WSC, South Division Second Team. Golphenee found herself in 81 sets across 23 matches and recorded a team-high 337 digs working for a rate of 4.16 digs per set. She also served 43 aces and one kill claiming 44 points on the season.
Earning All-WSC, South Division Honorable Mention selections were sophomore Kamia Benjamin and freshman Ana Vasquez.
Benjamin saw action in 57 sets across 17 matches procuring 61 kills and three aces. The middle blocker also made defensive contributions, ending with nine solo blocks along with 33 block assists.
Vasquez tied for most kills on the season, spiking the ball 124 times among her 64 sets finishing the season with a rate of 1.94 kills per set for another team high. The freshman also worked for 42 digs, three solo blocks and 16 block assists and rounded out her 21 matches with 141 points.
The Cougars finished the regular season with an overall record of 11-13 going 7-5 in the WSC, South Division.
