College of the Canyons student-athletes Bella Solomon (women's tennis) and Nathaniel Wilkinson (men's track & field) have been named the Jersey Mike's COC Athletic Department's Women's & Men's Student-Athletes of the Week for the period running March 24-29. Solomon and Wilkinson are the 11th set of honorees for the 2025 winter/spring session.
Bella Solomon / Women's Tennis
Solomon closed out the regular season in spectacular fashion, while helping the Cougars to a pair of conference victories.
The freshman out of Hart High School wrapped the week with two singes wins while also teaming with partner Em Porter to go a perfect 3-0 in doubles play.
Playing from the No. 4 singles position, Solomon quickly wrapped up a 6-1, 6-0 singles victory vs. L.A. Mission on March 25. She and Porter also played to an 8-4 win in their No. 3 doubles match.
Two days later Solomon and Porter claimed another doubles win over Ventura College in what was a 6-3 team loss for COC. In the regular season finale on March 28, Solomon emerged victorious in a 6-0, 6-1 singles result after teaming with Porter once again for an 8-0 doubles win.
She finished the regular season 5-5 in doubles play while going 5-10 as a singles participant.
Nathaniel Wilkinson / Men's Track & Field
Wilkinson was the lone event winner during the COC men's track & field team's run at the annual Arnie Robinson Invitational hosted by San Diego Mesa College on March 28.
The sophomore out of Hart High School clocked a time of 10:04.71 in the 3,000m steeplechase event to win the event by nearly nine seconds over the runner-up from Riverside City College.
Wilkinson will next run at the 2025 Western State Conference (WSC) Prelims on April 18, with his sights set on winning a second straight conference championship in the 3,000m steeplechase event, after having also won the conference title as a freshman in 2024.
