Cougars Playoff Run Cut Short, Season Ends In 16th Inning
The College of the Canyons baseball team had its season ended by Santa Barbara in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday afternoon, losing 6-5 in 16 innings.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The College of the Canyons baseball team had its season ended by Santa Barbara in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday afternoon, losing 6-5 in 16 innings.
The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning, thanks to a two-run single by third baseman Adam Boyuer.
COC then trailed 5-3 after six, before first baseman Jake Jelmini hit a two-run homer to tie the game at 5-5.
However, the Cougars bats went silent the rest of the game and never scored again.
Cory Jones gave up four earned runs over four innings, but struck out 11 batters. Although Pitcher John Salas was tagged with the loss, he pitched a season high 11 innings of relief, struck out seven, and gave up one earned run.
Shortstop Christian Ornelas had three hits, while outfielders Connor Garelick and James Bonds combined for four hits.
COC finishes the season with a 20-16-1 record.
