Cougars Use Late Rally To Beat Bakersfield
The College of the Canyons baseball team tallied six runs in the seventh and eighth inning on Saturday afternoon to defeat Bakersfield College 7-4 in conference play.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The College of the Canyons baseball team tallied six runs in the seventh and eighth inning on Saturday afternoon to defeat Bakersfield College 7-4 in conference play.
After turning in just three hits in the first six innings of the game, COC exploded for four hits and over the next two innings.
Catcher Michael Browne slammed a three-run homer in the seventh inning to give COC a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the inning.
Bakersfield added one more score in the to close the Cougar's lead to 4-2, but Canyons came back and scored on a combo of solid hits and a Bakersfield miscue.
Pitcher Allen Sarkissian earned his first win of the season after coming in the game in the sixth inning and Icezack Flemming earned his second save of the season finishing off the final 2.2 innings.
Second baseman Chad DeLaGuerra went 2-of-3 on the afternoon with a triple and Browne was 1-of-4 with three RBIs.
The Cougars will welcome Bakersfield on Tuesday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m.
