Canyons Loses 3-2 at Citrus College
Cougars fall just one game after shutting out Citrus 7-0 on Tuesday.
The College of the Canyons baseball team suffered its fifth loss in seven contests at Citrus on Thursday, falling 3-2 on a seventh inning RBI single to right field.
The Cougars had previosuly defeated Citrus 7-0 in tis last game on Tuesday. However. Thursday's contest would be a different story
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Canyons (13-10, 6-5) evened things up in the top of the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly from Roy Verdejo hat scored Jose Haros.
That lead didn't last long, as Citrus answered in the bottom of the fourth with a run of its own to bring the score to 2-1.
Haros tallied his second run of the day for the Cougars in the sixth inning, when a wild pitch brought him in from third base and evened the score at 2-2.
But as was the case throughout the game, every momentum swing generated by COC was followed by an answer from Citrus.
The Owls would score the third and decisive run in the seventh inning to seal the win.
Zach Hanks was charged with the loss for COC after allowing one earned run and five hits in three and 2/3 innings of work.
In addition to scoring both COC runs, Haros finished with three hits on the day.
COC currently sits in third place in the Western State Conference, South standings.
Canyons will next play L.A. Valley at 1p.m. Friday March 27, at Cougar Field.
