SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – College of the Canyons is offering free admission to the College of the Canyons vs. Antelope Valley College football game this Saturday night to peace officers and firefighters as a "thank you" for their sacrifices, heroism and hard work fighting the recent wildfires in our region.
"Any time we can say "thank you" to the men and women who protect us and our property, I am more than happy to," head coach Garett Tujague said. "There is no way that we can ever show our true appreciation, but Cougar football can provide this small token of respect, appreciation and affection."
Firefighters and police officers must show proper identification at the ticket booth to receive admission for themselves and family members.
The Cougars open the 2009 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. against Antelope Valley College. COC is the defending National Division, Northern Conference champion and defeated the Marauders twice last season – during the regular season and in the first round of playoffs.
