Cougars Drop Final Regular Season Game Against Bakersfield
In its last regular season home game, College of the Canyons suffered a 24-9 loss to Bakersfield and dropped their conference record to 3-3.
In its last regular season home game, College of the Canyons suffered a 24-9 loss to Bakersfield and dropped their conference record to 3-3.
COC struggled all over the field, with not one player breaking out for a long run, pass or catch. The Cougars were only able to score in the first and fourth quarters of the game, but struggled to get the offense going in the middle of the game.
In the first quarter, kicker James Rodriguez topped off a 16-play march that moved 67 yards down field with a 28 yard field goal.
COC had trouble defending the pass against the Renegades as they gave up 306 yards in the air including two long passes for 71 and 75 yards for touchdowns.
After the break, and Bakersfield with the 21-3 advantage, the Cougars held the team from scoring anymore touchdowns, but the lead was too large to cut into.
COC would score a touchdown in the beginning of the fourth quarter, but the offense was not able to make anything else happen in the final minutes.
Josh Gibbs led the team with two touchdowns for 10 yards and three tackles. Kenny Shanahan tallied nine tackles, six solo, and Evan Harrington put up six tackles, five solo.
