Canyons Linebacker Paul Puebla Named SCFA Defensive Player of Week
Puebla finished the contest with nine tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception – a pick-six touchdown to give Cougars the win.
College of the Canyons sophomore linebacker Paul Puebla has been named the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Northern League Defensive Player of the Week based on his performance in the Cougars' 28-24 conference win vs. Pasadena City College in week four.
Puebla finished the contest with nine tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception – a pick-six touchdown with 3:35 to play in the fourth quarter that gave Canyons the win.
Canyons has now had a player honored in each of the first four weeks of the season.
COC quarterback Devon Dunn has received the offensive award in weeks one and three, while defensive back Triston Brown won the defensive award in week 2.
Additionally, the Cougars are currently the No. 5 ranked team in the state according to the most recent statewide coaches poll released Sept. 21.
COC will continue its conference schedule at home vs. Bakersfield College at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
