The COC men's soccer team has won three straight matches after defeating conference rival Citrus College 5-0 on Tuesday.
Canyons (6-4-7, 6-2-6) seems to have found its winning way in recent weeks, after a span in which the Cougars were forced to settle for draws in four straight contests.
The five goals tallied by the Cougars on Tuesday represented a season-high scoring output.
Freshman defender Anthony Salvadori was the first to put his name on the stat sheet with a header that sailed past the Citrus goalie's outstretched arm and into the back of the net to give Canyons a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.
The 1-0 score would hold until midway through the second half, when freshman forward Iban Alaniz scored an unassisted goal, his sixth of the season, to make it a 2-0 COC advantage.
From there, the route was on, as Marcelo Almanza, Ian Canevari and Skyler Kell each scored within a span of nine minutes to give Canyons a decisive win.
In addition, COC goalkeeper Cristian Arriaga posted his third consecutive shutout, giving him a total of eight on the season.
Arriaga is currently tied for the WSC, South lead in that category, while also ranking second in total saves (62) and save percentage (.816). The Hart High graduate has an individual record of 5-4-7 on the season.
Canyons is currently in fourth place in the WSC, South, but it is just four points behind conference leader Oxnard College, with just two games remaining.
Coincidentally, the Cougars will head to Oxnard on Friday, with that match scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
