Cougars Play to Scoreless Draw at AVC
Canyons (5-5-6, 1-0-2) remains unbeaten vs. Western State Conference (WSC), South Division opponents.

LANCASTER — College of the Canyons traveled to Antelope Valley College on Friday for a conference match but left unfulfilled after the two teams played to a scoreless draw.
Canyons (5-5-6, 1-0-2) had previously suffered a 1-0 non-conference loss at No. 8 state ranked Taft College.
AVC (8-2-5, 1-0-3) had also played to a tie vs. Citrus College in its last match.
Despite both teams battling for a win neither squad was able to find the edge.
The Marauders outshot the Cougars 11-2, with three on goal, forcing COC goalkeeper Julian Villifan to come up big for the Cougars. Villifan recorded 90 minutes and three saves, keeping his side in the match.
Bakersfield College currently holds the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division's top position with a record of 2-0-1. Antelope Valley trails at 1-0-3 on the season. Canyons has not lost a match this conference season, keeping them in the running for a first place finish with a record of 1-0-2.
The Cougars will next host Bakersfield at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, providing an opportunity to overtake the Renegades for the conference's top spot.
