College of the Canyons had its four-game win streak come to a close in a 3-1 home result vs. Fresno City College on Tuesday,
Canyons (4-2) had won its last four outings after falling 1-0 in the season-opener vs. Taft College. Fresno City (3-0-1) got back in the win column after playing a scoreless draw its last time out.
The Rams netted their first goal in the opening minute on a long kick from Bryan Lopez for a 1-0 advantage. That's where things stayed until Kobe Iracheta moved things along at 2-0 with his score in the 53rd minute. Fresno ended its scoring with goal from Damien Ramirez in the 76th minute.
The Cougars were able to bang one in during extra time to get on the board at 3-1, behind Diego Arreola's scoring touch.
COC tallied nine shots in the game with the Rams accounting for nine of their own. Canyons also found a slight edge in earning six corner kicks, compared to five for Fresno.
Sophomore Adam Soria started in net for the Cougars. Soria (2-2) recorded six saves in the losing effort.
Canyons will now hit the road for its next three matches. COC travels to Monterey Peninsula College for a 4 p.m. start Thursday. On Friday, the Cougars face Santa Rosa College at 4 p.m. The trip concludes with a 7 p.m. match at Santa Barbara City College 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19.
