Cougars Only Notch Two Hits In Loss To Citrus

GLENDORA, Calif. – College of the Canyons dropped a 9-1 mercy-rule decision to Citrus College on Thursday afternoon in Glendora. The Cougars drop to 6-8 and 3-1 in conference, while Citrus College improved to 10-5 and 3-1 in conference.
Pitcher Danielle Estrada (1-3) got the call and tossed 2.1 innings, giving up nine run on nine hits. Milana Casillas came in to throw 1.2 innings of relief. She gave up one hits and struck out two in the loss.
Canyons only turned in two hits, which were recorded by Karlee Bickford and Venise Elisara. Bickford also had a RBI on the afternoon.
The game got worse for Canyons after they gave up eight runs, on five hits in the bottom half of the third.
Trailing 9-0 in the top of the fifth inning, the Cougars were able to put up a run. Bickford hit a RBI single to left, to bring in Elisara, who turned in a double earlier in the inning.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, March 18 as they play in a double header at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
