Cougars Offense Starts Slow, Gets Past Citrus
The College of the Canyons softball team was out hit 16-8 on Tuesday afternoon and lost the first game of a double header, 8-6, at Whitten Field.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons softball team was out hit 16-8 on Tuesday afternoon and lost the first game of a double header, 8-6, at Whitten Field. With the loss, Canyons drops to 16-14 overall and Citrus College improves 21-10 and both teams now have identical 12-2 conference records.
Freshman Morgan Simmons (9-9) earned her ninth victory of the season after tossing a complete game and giving up three hits.
Canyons offense didn't get going until the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Cougars posted their three runs. Karlee Bickford blasted a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Kaitlyn Shreves to score. Adrianna Correa followed up with a RBI single, and Venise Elisara turned in her own sac fly to earn COC's third and final run.
Kori Cochran was the only Cougar to have a multi-hit day. She went 2-of-3 and had one run. Adrianna Correa, Valerie Imperial and Shreves all had one hit each.
