Softball Drops Two To Desert In Playoff Loss
The No. 14 seed College of the Canyons softball team lost a pair of games to No. 3 College of the Desert in the first round of the California Community College Athletic Association Softball Southern Regional Playoffs, ending the Cougar’s playoff run and season.

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The No. 14 seed College of the Canyons softball team lost a pair of games to No. 3 College of the Desert in the first round of the California Community College Athletic Association Softball Southern Regional Playoffs, ending the Cougar's playoff run and season. The Cougars finished the year with a 22-19 record.
GAME ONE
In the first game of a best-of-three series, the College of the Canyons softball team dropped a 6-1 decision on Saturday afternoon at College of the Desert.
Canyons collected nine hits, but left nine runners stranded. Desert turned in 10 hits and left five on base.
Shortstop Kori Cochran was 3-of-3 and garnered a walk and tallied a run, while first baseman Kaitlyn Shreves went 2-of-4 with the Cougar's lone RBI.
Pitcher Morgan Simmons (9-11) tossed 5.0 innings and gave up nine hits, three earned runs and struck out one hitter. Reliever Danielle Estrada threw 1.0 innings of scoreless relief.
GAME TWO
In the second game of Canyons playoff series with Desert, COC lost 9-1 to the Roadrunners on Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars turned in an ample amount of hits (six), but left five of the runners on base, coupled with four errors. Desert collected seven hits and left five runners stranded.
Center fielder Venise Elisara was the only Cougar to collect multiple hits and went 3-of-2 and designated hitter Sierra Quiala went 1-of-3 with a double and a RBI.
Starting pitcher Milana Casillas threw 2.0 innings giving up four hits, five earned runs, three walks and struck out three. Simmons finished the game for the Cougars, allowing the Roadrunners to turn in three runs on two hits.
