Canyons Softball Rallies to Win Season Opener
COC freshman pitcher Kaitlyn Reed earned the win for Canyons, lasting seven innings and surrendering just one earned run.
The COC softball team sparked a two-out rally in the top of the seventh inning to defeat No. 11 ranked Santa Ana College 4-3 on Tuesday.
Despite scoring first the Cougs trailed early, but managed to load the bases in the top half of the seventh inning. From there, COC leadoff hitter Cheyenne Steward clubbed a bases-clearing double to give Canyons the 4-3 lead.
Steward finsihed the day 1-for-4 with three RBIs, and also scored a run for COC in the first inning on an RBI double by right fielder Jennifer Metcalf. Metcalf was also 1-for-4 on the day.

Canyons (1-0) will take part in a road game doubleheader on Saturday, with COC slated to take on Rio Hondo College to begin the day, before facing Cypress Collegelater in the afternoon.
