The College of the Canyons softball team scored 15 runs in five innings of work to defeat host L.A. Harbor 15-2 on Friday.
COC shortstop Cheyenne Steward set the tone early, as the freshman finished 5-for-5 with four runs scored and an RBI.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Shreves, batting in the second spot, took advantage of the opportunity to bat with runners aboard by totaling five RBIs and two runs on a 3-for-5 day at the plate.
Center fielder Erica Esparza and catcher Lauren Anderson had three hits apiece, while third baseman Julianna Carlos knocked in four runs despite finishing 0-for-3 with a walk.
Canyons would go on to face College of the Desert later that afterrnoon in the finale of a two-game set.
