COC Has Win Streak Snapped at Six Games in 7-6 Loss to Santiago Canyon

The College of the Canyons softball team had its six-game win streaked ended with a tough 7-6 loss in the second game of a doubleheader at Santiago Canyon.
After scoring three runs in the top half of the inning COC took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but could not close the game out as the Hawks would come back to score five runs of their own.
COC pitcher Kaitlyn Reed did not start the game but ended up taking the loss after allowing five runs, two earned, in 2 2/3 innings of work. The freshman, who threw a 1-0 shutout in the first game, is now 6-2 on the year.
Despite the loss, Canyons received another strong performance from sophomore catcher Lauren Anderson who finished the day 5-for-7, with a pair of RBIs in the second contest.
COC right fielder Jennifer Metcalf finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and second baseman Julianna Carlos was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.
Canyons (7-2-1) will begin its conference schedule on the road vs. Antelope Valley College at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5.
