The No. 8 College of the Canyons softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to visiting No. 5 Cerritos College on Saturday, as the Cougars were contained to just three runs in the two contests.
Canyons (6-5) also allowed a combined 19 runs in the two games.
In the opener, Cerritos was a 9-1 winner after scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.
In the second game Canyons was eventually defeated 10-2 in six innings after giving up six runs in the top of the final frame.

Sophomore pitcher Ashley Russo (2-4) was tagged for the loss in both games.
Canyons will return to action at 2 p.m. Thursday March 3, as the Cougars host Allan Hancock College (9-4-1) at Ray Whitten Field.
