No. 8 Canyons Sweeps Doubleheader at Antelope Valley College
The Cougars (20-8,10-1) defeated the Marauders 13-5 & 10-5.

The No. 8 regionally ranked College of the Canyons softball team extended its win streak to 10 games after picking up a pair of conference road wins in a doubleheader at Antelope Valley College on Tuesday.
Canyons (20-8, 10-1) made short work of the Marauders in the first outing, winning 13-5 in a five inning game.
The Cougar lineup had built a 6-0 lead before AVC finally made its stand in the third inning.
Sophomore Ashley Russo pitched the full five, but had her stat line take a hit after the Marauders were able to plate five runs in the third frame. Russo then settled down the rest of the way to pick up her first win of the day, and 11th of the season.
Not to be outdone, Canyons answered right back with a seven-run fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Every member of the COC lineup recorded at least one hit and scored at least one run in the contest
Sarah Wilson led the attack by finishing 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Kiana Holder finished 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Cheyenne Steward also homered to finish 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
In the second game, COC trailed 2-0 in the early goings before the Cougar bats came back to life.
Canyons scored three runs in the fifth, three more in the sixth and four in the seventh to eventually defeat AVC 10-5.
Russo was credited with her 12th win of the season in a tough outing that saw the sophomore surrender five runs but battle through to find victory.
At the dish, Azmarheen Anderson had a big game from the cleanup spot, finishing 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Sophomore Jennifer Metcalf also had a three-RBI day after going 1-for-3 with a home run.
Gabrielle Padilla also knocked in three runs, on a 1-for-5 day at the plate.
Canyons currently sits in first place in the Western State Conference, Blue Division.
The Cougars will next travel to L.A. Mission College on Thursday, April 7.
