Cougars Get 5-4 Road Win at Imperial Valley

IMPERIAL, Calif. — It was a quiet start for College of the Canyons , but following a run by Imperial Valley in the second inning the Cougars sprang into action for an eventual 5-4 road victory.
COC answered with a run of its own in the third inning, then put another two runs on the board in the fourth inning to make it a 3-1 ballgame.
Imperial Valley responded with one run in the home half of the fourth. Both teams held strong in the fifth, before the Cougars pushed across lone runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
COC shortstop Danielle Chatman finished 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Cougars.
Carly Moreno also drove in a run, with a sacrifice fly and finished the game 1-for-3 at the plate. Katie Clinkunbroomer and Kayla Yamane also recorded RBIs for the Cougars.
Imperial Valley started a rally in the seventh and scored two runs, but couldn't get any closer, eventually falling by a 5-4 final score.
COC starter Megan Wilson got the win after throwing the full seven innings.
Next up, the Cougars head south for a game vs. San Diego Mesa College on Saturday, Feb. 17.
