College of the Canyons sophomore pitcher Megan Wilson has signed a National Letter of Intent with Hawai'i Pacific University to continue both her academic and athletic career.
Hawai'i Pacific University is an NCAA Division II program located in Honolulu. The Sharks compete in the Pacific West Conference (PWC).
Wilson, who attended nearby West Ranch High School, was a two-year player for the Cougars program. A native of Canada, Wilson moved to Santa Clarita during her sophomore year in high school and eventually made her way to COC, where her sister also played.
In 2019, Wilson helped pitch Canyons back into the postseason while earning All-Western State Conference (WSC) First-Team honors in the process.
The sophomore anchored the Lady Cougars' pitching staff with a 13-9 regular record and 3.27 ERA in the regular season. She struck out 60 batters and allowed just one home run.
Canyons finished the 2019 regular season as runner-up in the Western State Conference (WSC), East Division after winning the conference title a season ago.
As a freshman in 2018, Wilson was an All-WSC Honorable Mention selection after going 5-3 with a 3.26 ERA and 24 strikeouts. That season Canyons won the WSC, East Division championship and advanced to the CCCAA SoCal Super Regional before seeing its season come to an end.
Aside from competing as a student-athlete, Wilson served as a peer mentor for the college's First Year Promise (FYP) program and excelled in the classroom, having graduated from the college in May.
