College of the Canyons came up with three runs in the final frame to earn an 8-7 walk-off victory over visiting Glendale College on Tuesday, good for the club's first conference victory of the season.
Canyons (8-11, 1-2) has won back-to-back games following its split of a road doubleheader at Santiago Canyon College over the weekend.
The Lady Cougars were forced to battle back after falling behind 5-0 in the opening sequence. COC plated a pair of runs in the home half of the first to get into the ballgame at 5-2. Brooke Petretti's RBI single put Canyons on the board before Paige Pikor's double brought Petretti around to score.
Now trailing 6-2, Petretti added another RBI base hit and later came around to score to make it a 6-4 ball game after three.
Ryan Shepherd's RBI single in the fourth brought things a bit closer at 6-5.
Glendale (11-8, 1-1) did its bets to protect the lead with another run in the seventh, sending COC to its final at bat with a 7-5 deficit.
Once again it was Petretti and Pikor who both singled to start the seventh. Petretti then scored an unearned run on a ground ball hit by Kate Garcia. Garcia then followed Pikor home on a two-run single from Lexy Angulo that gave Canyons its 8-7 walk-off victory.
