Canyons Comes Back to Split Doubleheader with Cuesta

College of the Canyons rallied for six unanswered runs to top visiting Cuesta College 13-12 and salvage a split of its home doubleheader at Whitten Field on Monday.
Canyons (10-12) has now won four of its last five contests dating back to March 16. The loss also snapped a seven-game win streak for Cuesta (15-11).
The Lady Cougars suffered a 9-5 loss in the opener with starter Nichole Muro taking the loss. COC was undone by a four-run inning by the visiting side in the top of the fourth.
In the afternoon affair it was Canyons jumping out to an early 4-1 advantage, and then retaking a 7-5 lead after the first two innings. Cuesta responded with a seven-run third inning to move ahead at 12-7 but didn't score again the rest of the way.
Paige Pikor doubled home two runs in the fifth and Hayley Neale brought in another later in the inning to put Canyons ahead for good with the 13-12 final. Muro (4-6) earned the win to get even on the day.

Upcoming Schedule
Canyons will have another home game on Tuesday before heading back out on the road for its next three contests. COC finally returns to Whitten Field on April 2.
Up next, the Lady Cougars host Bakersfield College at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. That game will be livestreamed to fans on YouTube via the Cougars Sports Network.
COC then travels to Citrus College on Thursday, March 28 for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch. The action continues with a road doubleheader at Orange Coast College on Friday, March 29. Those contests are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Conference play continues at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 with a home matchup vs. Antelope Valley College.
