Canyons Swim Teams Post Strong Outings at WSC Pentathlon
COC sophomore Phillip Wong finished in sixth place with a combined time of 4:57.23 across the day’s five events
The College of the Canyons men's and women's swim teams saw their first action of the spring on Friday, as the season officially got underway at Friday's WSC Pentathlon held at L.A. Valley College.
Though it was a non-scoring team event, COC's individual swimmers fared well.
For the men's team, Canyons swimmer Phillip Wong finished in sixth place to lead the Cougars with a combined time of 4:57.23 across the day's five events (100y fly, 100y backstroke, 100y breast stroke, 100y free style, 100y individual medley).
Not far behind was COC swimmer Naphong Aneksirikul's combined time of 5:00.60, good enough for ninth place among the field of more than 50 swimmers who participated in every event.
Georgia Rios (6:09.42) and Alexis Kearns (6:10.55) finished 23rd and 26th, respectively, for Canyons, in a field that contained more than 60 qualifying swimmers.
