COC Swim & Dive Competes at Second WSC Meet

VENTURA — College of the Canyons swam at the second Western State Conference (WSC) meet of the season on Saturday at Ventura College.
Canyons finished 10th in the women's team standings and seventh on the men's side. Santa Barbara City College won the women's meet with Cuesta College winning the men's competition.
Freshman Diego Rozbruch led the men's side with 37 events points and a pair of top-four finishes. He took third in the 100-yard butterfly (56.74) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (50.91). Rozbruch also finished 11th in the 50-yard freestyle (25.08).
Sophomore Keanu Pence also had a productive day with 26 points. His top result came in the form of a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:22.11). Elsewhere, Pence was 10th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.20).
Freshman Max Brown earned points in the backstroke events, first finishing seventh in the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.51) and later following up with a ninth-place time in the 100-yard version of the event (1:03.08).
Jakob Glasshoff was 12th in the 100-yard freestyle (55.99), 13th in the 50-yard freestyle (25.59) and 14th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:53.37).
Sophomore Olivia Miles led the women's squad with her ninth-place result in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:28.75).
Stella Vigdorchik was 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:33.68) to represent the freshman's top finish of the day.
Freshman Nicole Lerma picked up points in the 1m diving event with a score of 97.65, good for fifth place.
Mia Paras swam 15th in the 50-yard freestyle (31.40). The sophomore was also 16th in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:42.52) and 100-yard freestyle (1:12.78). Sophomore Karen Robles placed 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke (2:11.88).
Up next, the Cougars will compete at the third and final WSC meet hosted by L.A. Valley College on Friday, March 29.
