Cougars Swim at Second WSC Meet
SANTA MONICA — College of the Canyons competed at the second Western State Conference (WSC) meet of the season on March 15, with the Cougars' men's team placing seventh in the field of 10 schools.
Cuesta College (599.5) won the men's meet with Bakersfield College (454) in a close second and Ventura College (386) taking third place. On the women's side it was Santa Barbara City College (720) followed by L.A. Valley (331) and Ventura (317). COC did not have any entries in the women's competition.
Leading Canyons was sophomore Diego Rozbruch's performance across his three events, bringing home third place finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.29) and 100-yard butterfly (57.78). Rozbruch was also sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (55.68)
COC freshman Jack Menz also participated in a trio of events, posting his top result in the 100-yard backstroke at a time of 55.31 to place third. Menz also finished seventh in both the 50-yard freestyle (24.24) and 100-yard butterfly (58.91) events.
Sebastian Villalobos took eighth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.40) and 14th in the 100-yard freestyle (55.46).
The Cougars will continue conference competition on Friday, March 28, at the WSC meet hosted by Bakersfield College.
