Canyons Pounces Long Beach, 55-35

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Cougars took a while to settle into their offense before defeating Long Beach City College, 55-35, on Tuesday evening. COC fell behind in the opening minutes of the contest after Long Beach took a 13-5 lead at the 12-minute mark.

The lead would be short lived as COC closed out the half on a 19-1 run that gave the Cougars a 33-19 lead at halftime. In the second half the Cougar defense held Long Beach to 16 points, but COC's offense struggled to put up 22 second-half points, while shooting 34.6 percent (9-of-26) from the field.

Starter Ashley Wakefield had 12 points and 11 rebounds on a 6-for-9 shooting night. Guard Britney Bradley added 11 points.
