BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Freshman Ashley Wakefield tallied her second consecutive double-double, leading the Cougars to their second Western State Conference win over Bakersfield, 81-39.
Despite shooting on 38.2 percent (29-of-76) from the field and only scoring one 3-pointer (1-of-7), COC easily took care of the Renegades.
Wakefield, Canyons leading scorer in conference games, was 5-of-9 from the field for 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, along with seven steals. Arielle While, who has scored in double digits in the last six of seven games, had 16 points. Charity Smith turned in 15 points and 13 rebounds and Britney Bradley scored 12.
The Cougars will return home on Saturday, Jan. 17 as they host West L.A. at 7 p.m.
