SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Sophomore forward Ashley Mason has signed a letter of intent with San Diego Christian College. She becomes the third women's basketball player to sign a letter of intent from the 2009-10 squad, joining Ashley Wakefield who signed with The University of the Pacific and Joslynn Frazier who will travel to Grand Canyon University next year.
"Ashley was an important member of two Western State Conference Championship teams at COC," College of the Canyons head basketball coach Greg Herrick said. "Her experience will help the San Diego Christian College program as they build from the ground up. Her athleticism and ability to defend different positions will be a definite asset for her as she makes the transition to the NAIA level."
The Redondo Union High School graduate averaged 8.0 ppg and roughly seven rebounds per game. She recorded a season high 23 points in the second game of the year against Palomar on Nov. 11, 2009 and recorded nine games with double-digit points.
The Hawks are members of the NAIA Golden State Athletic Conference and finished the season with a 4-25 overall record and 1-19 in conference play.
