SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons women's basketball team overcame a second half surge from Glendale College where the Vaqueros cut the Cougars' lead to single digits, but COC dug in and defeated the Vaqueros 83-55 on Saturday night.
The Cougars were in control most of the night against the visiting Vaqueros, except for a short amount of time in the second half when the lead was cut to eight.
Dominique Turner had 16 points off the bench to top all Cougar scorers and Ashley Wakefield had 15 points and eight rebounds in the game.
The win improved the Cougars to 5-0, to keep pace with Citrus who is also 5-0 in conference.
The Cougars and Owls will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 27 in a battle of the unbeatens at 5 p.m.
