COC Takes First Place In The Conference With Win Over Citrus

With the victory, Canyons improves to 17-6 (6-0 WSC) to clinch first place in the conference with half of the season behind them. The Cougars held the early advantage through the first 14 minutes, though Citrus knocked down the lead with a 10-2 run to bring the score within nine before the break. COC answered with a 14-4 scoring run over the next minute to take a 14-point lead into halftime. The Owls opened the second half with a 12-6 run over the opening 5:47 to cut the Cougars lead to eight points. Seven minutes later, COC found itself with a 20-point lead with 7:50 remaining and did not look back.
Freshman forward Tinky Dahte led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds and sophomore guard Kelli Lewis turned in 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the 3-point line.
