Canyons Can't Get Past Mt. SAC
It was deja vu all over again as College of the Canyons fell to the state's No. 1 team for the second time in 14 days, 67-61, in the semi-finals of the Ventura College-Kiwanis Club Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
VENTURA, Calif. - It was deja vu all over again as College of the Canyons fell to the state's No. 1 team for the second time in 14 days, 67-61, in the semi-finals of the Ventura College-Kiwanis Club Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
Angelica Sahagun scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Cougars. No other COC player scored in double figures, although Jazzmyn Davis had 13 rebounds.
The contest went back and forth for most of the game with the Mounties leading at the half, 28-26. The Cougars took a one-point lead midway through the second half, but struggled from the foul line down the stretch. COC missed 16 free throws in the contest.
COC will play Taft in the third-place game on Sunday.
