Cougars' Run Falls Shorts In Final Seconds
The College of the Canyons stormed back in the second half to take a 1-point lead but fell short in the final second to drop a 74-73 decision to Cypress College on Friday night at the Cougar Cage.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons stormed back in the second half to take a 1-point lead but fell short in the final second to drop a 74-73 decision to Cypress College on Friday night at the Cougar Cage.
The Cougars came back after trailing by as many as 18 points in the second half to take a one-point lead with 25 seconds left in regulation. Cypress hit two free throws with 9 seconds left to take the lead back, 74-73, and on the ensuing possession Canyons couldn't get a basket.
Sophomore Keiona Mathews scored a season high 28 points and 15 rebounds to lead all scorers. Sophomore Shawn Kolani also had a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists, while chipping seven rebounds.
The Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 18 as they travel to the Orange Coast Christmas Classic to take on Saddleback in the first round.
