MOORPARK, Calif. – College of the Canyons sophomore Keiona Mathews broke her own single game scoring record and tallied the most free throw attempts and makes in Cougar history on Wednesday night as Canyons beat Moorpark College, 100-91. The win lifted COC to 12-12 overall and 6-3 in conference, while continuing the team's four-game winning streak.
Mathews, who broke the school record for most points in a game on Jan. 8 with her 45-point performance, tallied 47 points against the Raiders as she went head-to-head with Moopark's Riley Abraham, who is also in the top-10 of the state in ppg. Mathews also shattered the school record from the charity strike, garnering the most makes and attempts, as she went 18-of-21 from the line.
Sophomore guard Shawn Kolani turned in 25 points and nine assists in the squad's second 100-point performance of the season.
The Cougars will play host to Cuesta College on Saturday, Feb. 15 for a 3 p.m. match up.
