Canyons Falls to Conference Rival AVC 70-49
LANCASTER, Calif. – The College of the Canyons women's basketball team dropped its third straight conference game on Saturday, losing 70-49 to Antelope Valley College.
Canyons couldn't muster much offense against Antelope Valley, shooting only 30.6 percent for the whole game. The Cougars trailed throughout the whole game and were down by as many as 23 points at one point.
COC starters combined to shoot 9-for-34 on the night. The Cougars also had a disadvantage on the boards, getting outrebounded 47-34 for the game.
COC's leading scorer came of the bench this time. Guard Dre Jennings scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting in just 17 minutes of action. She hit 3-of-5 shots from three-point range and added two rebounds and an assist.
Cougar guard Jordan Oster had nine points in 23 minutes.
The loss drops Canyons to 13-10 overall on the season and to 3-5 against Western State Conference, South competition.
