No. 10 Canyons Wins Seventh Straight with 77-61 Win at Bakersfield College
Sophomore forward Hannah Green finished game with 24 points and 20 rebounds to go along with six steals and seven blocks.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Dominant performances by College of the Canyons forwards Hannah Green and Monica Friedl helped the Lady Cougars to their seventh straight win, as No. 10 regionally ranked Canyons put together a 77-61 victory over Bakersfield College on Saturday afternoon.
Green posted yet another impressive performance against the Renegades, tallying 24 points and 20 rebounds to go along with six steals and seven blocks.
Friedl also tallied impressive numbers, finishing with 22 points and 18 rebounds and three assists. Friedl is averaging 19.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game in her sophomore season with the Lady Cougars.
The 38 combined rebounds pulled down by Green and Friedl nearly outnumbered Bakersfield's entire rebounding total and accounted for nearly two-thirds of the rebounding total for entire Canyons squad.
The dynamic duo also helped lead a COC defensive front that allowed Bakersfield to shoot just 30.3 percent from the field.
The win improves COC's overall record to 12-4 and 2-0 against Western State Conference, South opponents.
Head coach Greg Herrick's squad will next host Glendale College in the team's home opener at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13.
