Win Streak Reaches 10 for Lady Cougars in 88-62 Romp of West L.A.

The No. 6 ranked College of the Canyons women's basketball team cruised to its 10th straight victory in a 26-point rout over West L.A. College at the Cougar Cage on Wednesday night.

Once again the dual threat tandem of forwards Hannah Green and Monica Friedl led the way.
Green finished the game with 18 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks, and now sits only 12 blocks from matching the school record set during the 1994-1995 season by Kerri Garland.
Friedl led the team with 20 points and 18 rebounds while adding a steal and two blocks in her 30 minutes of play. Friedl leads the team in scoring, averaging 19.6 points per game.
Freshman guard Cierra O'Brien finished with 15 points after going 5-for-7 from behind the arc, and point guard Marina Rojas executed the Canyons attack to the tune of a game-high nine assists.
The COC defense held West L.A. in check throughout the game holding them to only 27.6 percent shooting from the field.
The Lady Cougars also got a big bosst from the bench, led by Tamara Smith's 10 points and four rebounds. Vikki Martinez and Sara Ward scored eight and six points, respectively.
Head coach Greg Herrick's club improves its record to 15-4 overall while remaining undefeated at 5-0 in Western State Conference, South play.
The Cougars next host L.A. Valley College on Saturday, Jan. 23, the Cougar Cage. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
