No. 9 seed College of the Canyons lost to host No. 8 Palomar College 77-54 in the second round of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional Playoffs on Friday night.
Canyons kept it close in the early going, but in the second quarter the Comets went on an 18-8 run to put the Lady Cougars down by 18 points at the half. From there, the Cougars simply couldn't recover.
COC was led by All-Western State Conference (WSC) First Team honoree Monica Friedl who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, for her 19th double-double of the season.
Sophomore Hannah Green, the WSC Player of the Year, added 13 points and 10 rebounds, good for her 16th double-double of the season.
Freshman Erin Kiley, a WSC Honorable Mention selection, had seven points and a team-high three assists.
Head coach Greg Herrick and the Lady Cougars finished the season with a 23-6 overall record and a 13-1 mark in conference play to win the program's 15th conference title.
