Canyons Takes Second in SoCal Regional Championship
Cougars qualify to participate in state tourney Nov. 16-17
The College of the Canyons women's soccer team carded a two-day score of 684 to finish in second place behind College of the Desert at the 2014 CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships at Temecula Creek Inn Resort on Nov. 9-10.
Desert finished at 665 to win the tourney, while Irvine Valley College finished in third place at 686.
COC freshman Elisabeth Mortensen led the Cougars with a score of 165 to finish in 10th place among the field of 34 golfers.
Fellow freshman Tiffany Whittaker was next on the list for Canyons with a score of 169 and 12th place finish, while Andrea Webster finished the two-day, 36 hole tourney with a 173 to take 14th place.
Julia Youn rounded out the Cougar scorecard with a 177 to finish in 18th place.
As a result of its finish, Canyons will next play in the CCCAA State Championship Tournament being held Nov. 16-17 in Morro Bay, CA.
