Canyons Takes Second in Card-Off at Kern River
COC sophomore Julia Youn led the Cougars with a score of 79, placing her fourth individually.
The College of the Canyons women's golf team competed in Western State Conference (WSC) event No. 5 on Monday, finishing with a first place score of 332 before eventually settling for second place after losing in a card-off to Citrus College.
The card-off went the Owls' way based the final score of each team's fifth player, whose score is traditionally dropped in tournament play.
COC sophomore Julia Youn led the Cougars with a score of 79, placing her fourth individually.
Canyons sophomore Tiffany Whitaker finished just behind Youn with a score of 80 and a fifth place finish.
Finishing tied for eighth with a score of 82 was COC sophomore Alexis Miller.
Canyons freshman Amanda Horii shot a 91 to round out the top four, with freshman Nicole Virgil totaling a 112.
The event was hosted by Bakersfield College and held at Kern River Golf Course.
COC will next head to Pasadena on Monday, Oct. 12 to compete WSC event No. 6 at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena.
