Canyons Takes Fifth Place at Annual North/South Invite
Cougars held second place spot after day one before finishing with a two-day score of 669.
The College of the Canyons women's golf team competed in the annual North/South Invitational at Morro Bay Golf Course on Sept. 27-28, with the Cougars finishing fifth among the field of 16 schools.
Western State Conference rival Santa Barbara City College ran away with the event with a mark of 638, finishing 19 strokes ahead of the next closest competitor.
COC was in second place after day one, but still 16 strokes behind the Vaqueros. Canyons eventually finished with a two-day score of 669.
Fellow WSC opponent Citrus College took the tourney's second place spot with a score of 657.
The Cougars had three top-20 finishers. COC sophomore Tiffany Whitaker finished 13th overall with a total score of 161.
Canyons sophomore Julia Youn, finished right behind Whitaker with a score of 162, ranking her 14th overall.
COC sophomore Alexis Miller finished tied for 19th with her score of 165.
Canyons will next compete in WSC event No. 4 hosted by Citrus College on Monday Oct. 5, at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course.
