CHINO HILLS — College of the Canyons will be sending two players to compete as individuals at the upcoming state championship tourney after successful runs at the two-day California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) Southern California Regional Championships played at Los Serranos Country Club North course on Nov. 10-11.
COC freshman Sahya Kitabatake finished the 36-hole event third in the individual standings with a two-day score of 149 (76/73), just five shots off the lead. Her score of 73 on day two was one-under-par. That performance will allow Kitabatake to move on to compete as an individual at the upcoming state championship tourney Nov. 17-18.
Elsewhere on the course, COC freshman Cierra Coia finished with a two-day total of 207 (101/106) to finish the event 35th overall and has also qualified to compete at the state championships.
Marianne Meadows (227-116/11) also competed for Canyons but will see her season end at the regional championship event.
Canyons did not factor into the six-team field which saw Mt. San Antonio College (617-309/308) win the regional title followed by runner-up Orange Coast College (670-338/332) and Moorpark College (680-343/337) across the top three spots.
Full team and individual results are included here.
