Cougars Shutout Golden West In Home Opener
The College of the Canyons women's soccer team hosted it season home opener in impressive fashion as it shutout Golden West College, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Upper Field.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons women's soccer team hosted it season home opener in impressive fashion as it shutout Golden West College, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Upper Field.
Freshman Leilani Konrad tallied both goals for COC, marking the first of her collegiate career. Her first goal came in the second minute of the game, after receiving a cross from sophomore Stacey Atwater and went one-on-one with Golden West's keeper.
Konrad added the insurance in the 72nd minute when the ball bounced off a Rustler defender and she placed the ball to the left of the goalie.
Konrad and Atwater led all players with four shots each, putting seven on goal total.
Canyons goalkeeper Katherine Koury recorded four saves and her second shutout of the season.
With the win, COC improved to 2-1, while Golden West fell to 1-2.
The Cougars will return to action on Friday, Sept. 13 as they travel to Moorpark for a 4 p.m. match.
