COC Women's Soccer To Host Mt. SAC In First Round of Playoffs
The College of the Canyons women’s soccer team was named the No. 4 team in the 2013 California Community College Athletic Association Women's Soccer Southern California Regional Playoffs and will play host to No. 13 Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday, Nov. 23, for a first round game.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons women's soccer team was named the No. 4 team in the 2013 California Community College Athletic Association Women's Soccer Southern California Regional Playoffs and will play host to No. 13 Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday, Nov. 23, for a first round game. First kick is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Cougar Stadium.
COC women's soccer earns its third consecutive bid and conference title under fifth-year head coach Justin Lundin. The Cougars dropped the first match of the season to state champion host Cosumnes River College, before rattling off 16 wins and four ties. The Cougars ended the regular season with a 16-1-4 overall record and 12-0-2 in conference play.
Mt. SAC, a member of the South Coast Conference, ended the season with a 12-3-6 record and 8-2-4, to complete the season in second place.
This is the eighth time that the women's soccer program has made the post season since the program was established in 1998. Former head coach Phil Marcellin led his team to the playoffs five times.
Cosumnes River College will play host to this year's men's and women's soccer state championship, being held Dec. 6-8.
The winner of the match up will play the winner of the No. 5 San Diego Miramar/No. 12 Citrus College on Nov. 26 or 27.
Tickets for the event can only be bought at the gate. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students with identification, staff, children under 12 and seniors over 60.
