SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Soccer is a difficult game, but don't tell that to the COC women's soccer team.
Canyons is making it look easy these days, winning its fourth consecutive game to bring its unbeaten streak to 10 games after a 7-0 route of Glendale College on Tuesday.
In October alone, the Cougars have scored 18 goals in just four games.
Yevenia Avilez scored her first of two goals just moments after the opening whistle giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
Elise Wassner and Natalie Mitchell added goals rounding out the scoring for the first half. The Cougars entered the halftime break with a 3-0 lead.
The second half looked like a replay of the first with the Cougars attacking the Glendale goal area early and often.
COC's leading scorer Marissa Kneisel scored her ninth goal of the season in the 48th minute, giving the Cougars a 4-0 lead.
Freshman defender Anabell Gonzalez returned to the goal column in the 53rd minute scoring her second goal of the season.
Kathryn Pulido finished off the match by scoring her first goal of the season in the 90th minute wrapping up the 7-0 victory for the Cougars.
The Cougar offensive attack was unrelenting throughout the match, peppering Glendale goalkeepers with 34 total shots.
The victory boosts COC's record to 7-1-3 overall, and 4-0-1 against conference foes.
College of the Canyons next travels to Culver City, California to take on West L.A. College at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17.
